Transforming pleasure into knowledge or passion into profession is no mean task. Nonetheless, photography is one such variant that makes it possible. More so, it holds true for a person with an impeccable fervor to capture things that are best when depicted in pictures rather than a verbal description. Shashi Kiran’s demeanor in still photography needs no mention. Visual Retreat is just an apt word.

Images have the ability to capture not just light and shadow, but also the emotional state of the subject as well as that of the photographer. He firmly believes that what distinguishes a good picture from an average one is the emotional content of the image.

He stands by producing the job as a Photographer one is to infuse emotion into image. For him, photography exists in deep calm, yet in harmony with the world around.

Shashi has wielded unfathomable skills and a deep sense of fondness to shoot Children, Performing Arts, Advertising, Fashion, Industrial and Corporate photography.

He has a distinctive sense of style, and the visual dexterity which stands out in both his personal work and the fashion and portraiture of his commercial photography. Using his own child-like perception of the world and a genuinely gentle and generous spirit, he preserves the moment. His trained eye devours and captures intricate facets in any given subject.

Be it the multitude of expressions a child evokes in a split second or the awesome beauty of divine nature spanning across geographies and seasons, or the legendary architecture the country boasts - both in the form of royal palaces and extensively yet precisely sculpted temples. Conceptually driven and technically elegant, Shashi’s images range from the utterly simple stunning portraits made using only a  white or plain grey background and to the impossibly involved, such as the most complex shoot of Interiors and Industry.

Trained under ace photographers such as  Jaideep Oberoi, Girish Mistry, Sandeep Mhatre, Pesi Dubash and also had short stint of assisting well known Photographers from abroad.His astonishingly incisive thinking while at work resulted in extremely unique and contemporary pictures.

A business management graduate by academics, Shashi’s interest in photography is an in-born trait. Realizing this, he decided to pursue his passion further and enrolled in a photography course at College of Fine Arts, in Jawaharlal Nehru Technology University. Consequently, he is now Masters in Fine Arts in Photography and Visual Communication. He also holds a Post-Graduate Diploma In Television Production from University of Hyderabad.

He has taught in several Photography workshops for Olympus Camera, HSBC,Times of India NIE,Andhra Pradesh State Academy of Photography, etc…and  also is a guest faculty at NIFT, Reddy Labs and J.N.T.U. Shashi’s work has been published in coffee table books and magazines both in India and abroad.

Besides, he is also ably assisted by his younger brother Udaya Pavan who is an Advertising Photographer, who specializes in Interiors/Exteriors, Product and Special Effects Photography, whom Shashi considers his Right Eye.

He loves spending time with family and friends. In his free time, he prefers reading and listening to music. Shashi loves traveling. He is an ardent dog-lover and has bred and exhibited several dogs in dog shows which won him laurels.
